Description

DDO-006 on the 1967 Washington quarter displays medium doubling on LIBERTY and the ribbon end detail at the base of the obverse portrait — an unusual combination that suggests the hub misalignment affected the lower-left quadrant of the die with particular emphasis. The 1967 issue is historically distinctive: struck during the second year of the no-mintmark era (1965-1967) when Congress eliminated mintmarks to discourage coin hoarding, these quarters cannot be attributed to a specific facility. All 1967 quarters used the new copper-nickel clad composition introduced by the Coinage Act of 1965. Reported by Allan R. Levy, this variety is further documented with reverse die variety RDV-004 and a notation that the reverse is separately listed as DDR-006 — making this potentially a dual-sided doubled die coin.
