1964 Proof Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-002 / DDO-005

Description

Cross-referenced as FS-101 in the Cherrypickers' Guide, the 1964 proof Roosevelt dime DDO-005, which Wexler numbers WDDO-002, displays a very strong spread on the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, on the designer's initials (side by side) and on LIB of LIBERTY. Wexler writes the Cherrypickers number as FS-10-1964-101 (018.4). Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes a strong Class V CW spread, pivoting near 2:00, on the LIB of LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and the designer's initials. It records a Blunt tail 9 and a NNW/SSE scratch on the back of the neck on the obverse, and nothing significant on the reverse. Gary Wagnon submitted the coin. Wexler's cross-reference prints the CONECA number as 5-R-V. VarietyVista, crediting Timothy Wissert, lists the obverse as ODV-011 (Blunt 9). Under its marker codes UVC-434 and DMR-009, both sides are in an early die state at stage A; stage B (a middle die state) and stage C (a late die state) are unconfirmed.
