1964 Kennedy Half Dollar - Variety WWHO-001

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler team as 1964 50¢ WWHO-001, this doubled working hub obverse is found on 1964 Philadelphia Kennedy half dollars struck for circulation; Wexler lists it as a business-strike variety. A very close Class II spread toward the center shows on IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, LIBERTY and the hair; Wexler compares it to the master die doubling WMDO-002, only weaker. Because the doubling was in a working hub, every working die sunk from that hub carries it, so die markers differ from one die to the next. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Philadelphia struck 273,304,004 half dollars dated 1964 for circulation, all in 90% silver.
