Description

Cataloged as UVC-050 and DMR-012 with the RDV-001 reverse die variety (Straight G), the 1964-D Kennedy Half Dollar DDO-010 displays medium spread on WE TRUST and the 4 of the date, with light spread on IN GOD and the TY of LIBERTY. Four die stages document extensive production use on this 90% silver issue. Stage A is an unconfirmed early die state. Stage B places both obverse and reverse at mid-die-state. Stage C reaches late-to-mid die state, with numerous north-south die scratches developing on the obverse and several on the reverse. Stage D advances to LDS, marked by a long north-south die scratch through the tip of the nose and die cracks on clouds 5 and 6 on the reverse. The four-stage progression—with the distinctive nose scratch and cloud cracks at Stage D—provides a detailed roadmap for die-state attribution.
