1963 Proof Washington Quarter - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-015

Description

1963 WDDO-015 is a doubled die obverse on the 1963 proof Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the rim appears on IN GOD WE TRUST, and the bottom of IN shows a further clockwise (CW) spread. Wexler notes no significant markers on Obverse Stage A. By Obverse Stage B, abrasion has worn away the CW spread on the bottom of IN, along with many details of the queue. Reverse Stage A has a scratch on the upper part of the second S in STATES, a gouge between that S's upper part and the O in OF, and short gouges reaching in from the rim at the R and I of AMERICA, between them. Reverse Stage B is the same as Stage A. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
