Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1963 10-cent Proof WDDR-022, this Roosevelt Dime variety exhibits counterclockwise spread from a pivot at approximately 2 o'clock. The CCW rotation from that upper-right anchor directs maximum displacement toward the lower-left, where USA, ONE DIME, and the E PLU portion of E PLURIBUS UNUM register visible doubling on John R. Sinnock's reverse. This Class V pivoted hub doubling means elements farther from the 2 o'clock axis received progressively greater angular offset — ONE DIME and USA sit nearly opposite the pivot and capture the strongest displacement. The partial involvement of E PLURIBUS UNUM (only E PLU) maps the boundary where rotational offset drops below the detection threshold. As a proof struck at the Philadelphia Mint on polished planchets, mirror-like fields provide excellent contrast for detecting subtle spread. The 1963 proof Roosevelt Dime was composed of 90% silver at 2.5 grams, among the final silver proof dimes before the 1965 composition change. Examine USA and ONE DIME under 7x magnification for the strongest CCW displacement.
