Description

DDR-009, which Wexler numbers WDDR-018, is a doubled die reverse on the 1963 proof Roosevelt dime with very strong spread on all its lettering and outer design elements, heaviest on ONE DIME. Both catalogs cite it as FS-802 (017.5) in the Cherrypickers' Guide; Wexler writes FS-10-1963-802 (017.5). Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties describes a strong Class I CCW spread on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DIME, E PLURIBUS UNUM, the flames and the branches' lower parts, strongest in the lower half of the reverse. It lists no significant markers on either side. John A. Wexler submitted the coin, and CONECA lists the die as 9-R-I. VarietyVista credits Chris Pilliod with the report and notes the coin is a proof. Under its marker codes UVC-409 and DMR-016, both sides are in an early die state at stage A; stage B (a middle die state) and stage C (a late die state) are unconfirmed.
