1963 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-011

Description

1963-D WDDO-011 is a doubled die obverse on the 1963-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is inside the 3 of the date, toward its top. On the obverse, diagonal WNW/ESE scratches cross both the date and LIBERTY, and a short, strong diagonal gouge sits beneath the date's 1 and 9, between them. On the reverse, a gouge (dot) is just right of the E in ONE, near its base. In CENT, a scratch crosses the T's vertical bar near its top and continues into the field, parallel with the T's crossbar. Horizontal scratches run both above and below the Memorial. Frank Baumann submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
