Description

DDR-008 on the 1961 Washington quarter displays light doubling on QUARTER DOLLAR along with split stem ends in the wreath — combining text doubling with a design element anomaly that provides two independent diagnostics for variety identification. Split stem ends occur when the hub displacement causes the fine wreath stems to show bifurcated or separated tips, creating a distinctive visual signature visible under magnification. Reported by James Wiles, this is the eighth documented doubled die reverse for the 1961 date.
