1961-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team and cross-referenced as CONECA 1-R-V and Cherrypickers FS-10-1961D-801 (015.8), this 1961-D Roosevelt dime features a counterclockwise spread from a pivot at approximately 1 o'clock. Doubling is visible on ONE DIME, UNITED STATES, AMERICA, and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Obverse Stage A shows a light die scratch north from the 6 in the date; Stage B replaces it with a die gouge below the second T in TRUST. Reverse Stage A exhibits a die gouge dot above ME of DIME and below the first U of UNUM, with light die scratches from the flame through the E in STATES. Stage B adds a die gouge between the second S of STATES and the flame, plus a scratch from the M in DIME to the rim. The pivot-style spread produces stronger doubling on elements farther from the pivot center, so ONE DIME typically displays the most dramatic separation.
