Description
WDDR-010 on the Proof Small Date is a combination die — its obverse is independently listed as the doubled die obverse variety WDDO-008A, making specimens from this die pairing doubled on both sides. The reverse exhibits a spread towards the center on USA, EPU, ONE CENT, and the left side of the Memorial building, along with a counterclockwise spread on all design elements around the rim, especially the designer's initials. The reverse carries a distinctive die marker: a short but strong die gouge runs from southwest to northeast through the 6th, 7th, and 8th steps from the bottom of the Memorial just to the right of the 6th Memorial column. On the obverse, the Small Date hub is confirmed. Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1960 1¢ Pr WDDR-010, collectors should examine both sides carefully to confirm the dual doubled die attribution.
