Description

Bearing a higher Wexler sequence number than its WDDO-005 counterpart, the 1960-D WDDO-008 documents a separate hub doubling event on the Denver Mint Jefferson nickel from the same year. While both varieties share the 1960-D date and mint, each doubled die obverse originates from a different working die that received its own misaligned hub impression, producing a unique doubling fingerprint. The WDDO-008 designation indicates this die was cataloged later in the Wexler numbering sequence, though the order of listing does not imply relative strength or desirability. Felix Schlag's obverse portrait of Jefferson, with its detailed hair curls, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and the date, offers multiple areas where doubled hub impressions leave visible traces.
