Description
1959 WDDR-007 is a doubled die reverse on the 1959 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close spread toward the center shows on the designer's initials. Obverse, Stage A: an E/W crack crosses the upper forehead, and a SW/NE crack runs through the hair on top of the head. Stage B is the same as Stage A. Reverse, Stage A: at the second A of AMERICA, one small gouge touches its upper right and another lies just to its right, while a NW/SE crack passes through the right Memorial base at its lower right. Stage B: a strong gouge appears between the rim and the designer's initials, and a crack shows atop the E in CENT. Submitters: Gene Nichols (Stage A) and Whaden Curtis (Stage B). Wexler lists no cross-references.
