1959 (D) Roosevelt Dime - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

1959-D WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 1959-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close spread toward the center appears on the lettering around the rim, strongest on UNITED and DIME. On the obverse, a heavy scratch runs NE off the N of IN, from its right side and center, and heavy NE/SW scratches lie between ERTY of LIBERTY and the profile. On the reverse, a large die chip sits on the right center of the top oak leaf, another large chip on the upper right olive leaf, and a die chip on the tip of the olive branch stem. Joe Feld submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-R-II.
