Also reported by Lee Hiemke, DDO-010 is a separate doubled die obverse from DDO-009 on the 1956 Philadelphia Washington quarter — despite both showing light spread on LIBERTY, they originate from different working dies with distinct doubling characteristics. Differentiating between multiple light-spread DDO varieties on the same date requires attention to the specific letters affected, the exact spread direction, and any accompanying die markers that fingerprint the individual die. The 1956 quarter was struck in 90% silver (90% silver, 10% copper) at 6.25 grams, belonging to the late silver era of Washington quarter production. With the Coinage Act of 1965 less than a decade away, these silver quarters would soon become hoarding targets as silver prices rose.
