Description
1956 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1956 Washington quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extra thickness appears on the lower leaves and branches and on the letters of QUARTER DOLLAR and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. On the obverse, a small gouge (dot) lies between LIBERTY's R and T, low down, and another gouge sits right of the center of the T. Wexler examined a very late die state of the reverse, on which a crack or gouge runs southeast from the bottom right of the R in QUARTER to the rim. Tony Russo submitted the variety. Crawford lists it as CDDR-001.
