Description
1955-S WMDO-001 is a doubled master die obverse on the 1955-S Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. A counterclockwise (CCW) spread from a pivot near 3:00 appears on LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and the lips. Wexler notes that the die markers, obverse and reverse, differ from one working die to the next. The entry's comments explain that because the doubling is on the master die, every working die made for 1955 Roosevelt dimes, whether P, D, S or proof, carried it, so all 1955 Roosevelt dimes show it. How clearly it can be seen depends on the state of the working hub and the working die and on wear to the coin. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as MD-1-O-V.
