1954 Proof Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

1954 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1954 proof Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. OF AMERICA, the EPL of E PLURIBUS, and the left wheat ear and stem show a light spread. Obverse Stage A has circumferential scratches along the bottom of the rim beneath the bust. Stage B comes from a new obverse die, with many scratches and gouges around the date, WE and TRUST's last T, and on the neck. Reverse Stage A has a small gouge on CENT's N, low on its right side; on Stage B that gouge is faint. Daniel Griffin submitted Stages A and B. CONECA lists it as PR-2-R-II-C. Wexler's comments explain that this listing replaces the original WDDR-002, which turned out to duplicate WDDR-001, and that both coins photographed were certified, which made photos hard to get.
