Description
Strong spread South producing an extra set of steps between the upper CE of MONTICELLO — the primary and most visually compelling DDR for the 1954 Denver Jefferson Nickel. Die tracking: UVC-1858, DMR-007. Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed). Stage B: reverse and obverse are EMDS (Early-to-Mid Die State). Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed). The EMDS designation represents a transitional assessment between EDS and full MDS. The strong southward spread creating phantom steps is especially significant given that five full steps designation drives premium values for high-grade Jefferson Nickels.
