1951 Proof Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

1951 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1951 proof Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A strong Class II spread toward the center shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM, the dots, both wheat ears and both stems, and the upper parts of ONE's letters. On the obverse, two short vertical gouges sit to the right of the lower ear. On the reverse, a horizontal scratch lies on the upper left of CENT's N, a short NNW-SSE scratch on that N's lower right, and a short gouge heads NW from the top of the second T in STATES. Larry Patterson submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 3-R-II. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
