1951 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Over Mint Mark WOMM-001

Description

1951-D WOMM-001 is an over mint mark on the 1951-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler marks the listing as under re-evaluation. As described, the variety seems to show a D over an S to the south. On the obverse, a long scratch heads SSW from the bottom of the date's first 1 through the lower right of the vest. On the reverse, a long chip lies on the vertical bar of CENT's T, and a scratch heads SSE from the bottom of UNITED's D. Brian Ribar submitted the variety, and Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments explain that this listing, once numbered WOMM-003, appears only in the Wexler Die Variety Files. With this date's WOMM-001 and WOMM-002 now refuted, it will need a closer look to see whether it survives the overlay tests the first two OMM listings failed.
