Description
S/S/S North and Tilted Die Markers: Obverse Obverse Stage A: Heavy die scratches run North from below and left of the 1 in the date ending at or right of the tip of the nose. Two mostly N-S die scratches show between the 1 & 9 in the date. A N-S die scratch cuts through the upper opening of the 9 in the date. A faded die scratch runs North from the upper chin to the upper lip. Three light and parallel die scratches run North from the upper Y in LIBERTY. A die gouge shows in the field to the right of the upper G in GOD. A heavy die gouge shows at the rim above and left of the I in IN. Obverse Stage B: A heavy die dot shows in the field North of the R in LIBERTY. The die scratches near the 1 in the date are present, but weaker. A die dot shows in the field right of the I in IN about a third of the way up. Reverse Stage A: Several faded die scratches run N-S inside the C in CENT. A die scratch runs N-S in the field NW of the upper C in CENT. Three parallel die scratches run North from the upper left side of the O in ONE. Two long die scratches run North from the tops of the E and S in STATES. A N-S die scratch shows in the field to the left of the O in OF. Several N-S die scratches run through the AMER in AMERICA and the first S in STATES. Reverse Stage B: A single die scratch runs North from the upper left side of the O in ONE. A tiny die dot shows above the E in STATES. The Stage A, N-S die scratch to the left of the O in OF is present, but weak.
