Description
1950-D WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1950-D Franklin half dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA), the dots, HALF DOLLAR and E PLURIBUS UNUM (EPU) show extra thickness with some separation, and the eagle and bell clapper show a spread to the east. Obverse markers: next to the lower part of LIBERTY's B, on the right, a small gouge; under LIBERTY's E, a horizontal scratch; and left of the 1, a long north-south scratch. The reverse mint mark is a repunched mint mark (D/D South) listed as 1950-D WRPM-002. Over the E in EPU is a diagonal gouge, and UNUM's M has a scratch heading SE from it. STATES has a gouge between the upper E and S and another inside the lower part of its second S, and the O in OF has a gouge inside it. Tony Russo submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
