Description

1946-D WWHR-001 is a doubled working hub reverse on the 1946-D Roosevelt dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler's listing covers the 1946-P, 1946-D and 1946-S dimes. The doubling is a Class V clockwise (CW) rotation around a pivot near 11:00, visible on the E of ONE and on DIME, AMERICA and UNUM. Wexler notes that the die markers, obverse and reverse alike, differ from one working die to the next. The variety is credited to various individuals, and Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments add that the doubling can look slightly different from one working die to another, and name several things that can cause this: wear on the working hub, wear on the working die, abrasion of the working die, and wear on the coins themselves.

Cross References

  • None known Comments: Slight differences in the appearance of the doubling may be seen on the working dies. A number of factors can contribute to these differences including wear to the working hub, wear to the working die, abrading the working die, and wear to the coins.; Wexler Variety ID: 1946-P,D,S 10¢ WWHR-001
