Description
The 1942-S Doubled Die Reverse DDR-004 is a doubled die reverse (DDR) variety, where die hubbing misalignment produced visible doubling on the reverse design. This variety was discovered on the 1942 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: UVC-1738 DMR-022 Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed) Stage B: Die scratches East-West on either side of mintmark – MDS Light die crack from center dome North through mintmark to B of PLURIBUS Die crack Right dome South between pillars # 3 and # 4 through E of MONTICELLO and N of CENTS to O of OF Die crack across lower bust – MDS Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed).
