1941 Proof Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse DDR-005

Description

Proof Lincoln Wheat Cents from the early 1940s are scarce and desirable in their own right, and this 1941 Proof DDR-005 adds doubled die reverse interest to an already collectible format. Strong extra thickness appears on E PLURIBUS UNUM, both wheat ears, the stems, and AMERICA, indicating substantial hub displacement that affected multiple reverse design elements. Die markers include UVC-2932 and die marriage DMR-030. Stage C is the only confirmed die state, with both the reverse and obverse documented in Late Die State. Stage A in Early Die State and Stage B in Mid-Die State remain unconfirmed. Attributed by VarietyVista. The strong doubling across such a wide range of reverse elements, from the motto through the wheat ears and into the AMERICA inscription, suggests a significant hub shift during die preparation. On proof specimens, the mirror-like fields and sharply struck design features make hub doubling more readily visible than on business strikes, enhancing the diagnostic potential for collectors examining early 1940s proof sets.
