Error
Description
1940-S WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 1940-S Mercury dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date carries close doubling, spread toward the center. On the obverse, right of the upper B in LIBERTY is a feeder finger abrasion, and a north-south die crack passes through the front of the hair and the back of the profile. On the reverse, the mint mark is a repunched mint mark that Wexler lists as 1940-S WRPM-004, an S/S West (secondary S west of the primary). Frank Doty, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
