Extra thickness on E PLURIBUS UNUM with a division line near the center of the second U of UNUM characterizes DDR-007 on the 1940 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent. Cataloged as UVC-1447 and DMR-012, die stage B documents the reverse at mid-die-state with a light die gouge through the upper N of UNUM providing a precise letter-area diagnostic. The division line bisecting the second U represents a hub doubling artifact where the secondary impression split the letter into distinct upper and lower halves, creating a visible seam through the character. This diagnostic is concentrated in the EPU motto area above the wheat ear design, giving collectors a focused examination zone. The 1940 Lincoln Wheat Cent belongs to the final pre-war production year before World War II altered Mint operations, struck when mintages had begun recovering from Depression-era lows.
