Description
The 1940-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-002 is a doubled die reverse (DDR) variety, where die hubbing misalignment produced visible doubling on the reverse design. This variety was discovered on the 1940 (D) Jefferson Nickel, part of the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. Die markers: UVC-653 DMR-006 Stage A: Mintmark is high and slightly rotated – EDS Obverse is EDS Stage B: Reverse and Obverse are MDS Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed).
