Description

A strong Class V CW spread from a pivot at 4:00 shows on IGWT, Lincoln’s eyelid, the date, and Lincoln’s vest. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Vertical die scratches run through the date and to the right of Lincoln’s head. A die crack runs from the back of the base of the bust, loops over the designer’s initials, and curves back to the base of the bust. A die gouge extends from the left edge of the N of IN. Obverse Stage B: The Stage A markers are weak or gone. The die crack at the base of the bust extends into the field. Reverse Stage A: A vertical die scratch runs along the right side of the U of UNITED. Two die scratches run through the upper first A in AMERICA. A die scratch extends southeast from the lower E of ONE. Reverse Stage B: A northeast to southwest die scratch runs inside the upper left area of the O in ONE. A north-northwest to south-southeast die scratch can be found in the left wheat grains west from the O in OF. A die scratch runs northwest from about the center of the left side of the N in UNITED.
