1935 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007

Description

1935 WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 1935 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling shows as extra eyelids both north and south of the normal one. Obverse: from the front of the lower jacket, concentric scratches head ENE into the field; a long series of concentric scratches starts at the rim above IN GOD WE TRUST and to its right; a vertical scratch runs south below the L of LIBERTY; a gouge (dot) lies right of the Y in LIBERTY, near its top; and a diagonal crack lies above the VDB initials. Reverse: a dot above the N of ONE at its left edge; a clash line from the lower E of ONE crossing the N of CENT at its upper right arm, and another clash line right of the C in CENT; a scratch running SE off the O in OF, from its lower right curve; a light scratch running NE through the opening of AMERICA's C; and a dot right of the last A in AMERICA, low on the letter.
