1935 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005

Description

Two extra eyelids visible beneath the normal eyelid, with slight doubling on the bottom of the Y in LIBERTY, define the primary doubling on the 1935-P Lincoln Wheat Cent WDDO-005, cataloged by the Wexler research team with Variety ID 1935 1¢ WDDO-005. The 1935-P was struck in 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc bronze with Victor David Brenner's wheat ear reverse. Obverse die markers include three short parallel die scratches south below the 3 in the date; two parallel die scratches north-northeast from the vest below the 1 in the date; and a die scratch northwest to southeast between the R and U of TRUST. Reverse die markers include a die scratch southwest to northeast between the upper T and E of STATES; a die scratch running northwest from the lower left of the D in UNITED; and a die scratch nearly parallel to the end of the left wheat stem.
