Description

Extra thickness shows on both wheat ears and stems and slightly on the letters of EPU and the dots. Die Markers: Obverse: A long curling die scratch runs SW from the lower left side of the D in GOD. Two die scratches run SSE at the back of Lincoln’s nose. A few small die gouges show on the bottom of the nose. There is a light die crack across the base of the bust just above the designer’s initials. A series of SW to NE die scratches run throughout the hair at the back of the head. Reverse: Very short die scratches run north to south at the upper and lower area of the C in CENT. A die gouge (dot) can be found in the field south of the I in AMERICA. Two short die scratches extend SW from the left side of the first U in PLURIBUS. A die scratch runs east from the center of the C in AMERICA to the second A. Obverse:
