1934 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-006

Description

1934 WDDR-006 is a doubled die reverse on the 1934 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A Class IV spread toward the NW affects the bottoms of ON in ONE and ED in UNITED, as well as CE in CENT. Obverse: a scratch rises north from the L of LIBERTY, starting low on the letter, and several west-east scratches lie between the tops of TRUST's T and R. Reverse: scratches run NE from three points: the lower right of the second T in STATES, the lower part of the E in STATES, and the upper right of UNITED's U. A nearly vertical scratch lies right of CENT's T near its base, and another runs from the middle of UNUM's N to the M at its upper left. Bill Chisler submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 5-R-IV. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
