1934 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

1934 WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1934 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Very strong Class VI extra thickness appears on both wheat ears and the stems, as well as on E PLURIBUS UNUM (EPU) and the dots. Obverse: three strong NW-to-SE scratches in front of the eyelid, and a series of west-east scratches through most letters of IGWT (IN GOD WE TRUST), heaviest through WE. Reverse: a short scratch extending SE from the lower right of the E in ONE, and a light scratch running east to the R of PLURIBUS, starting at the center of its first U. Brian Allen submitted the variety (upgraded by Russ LeBeau). CONECA lists it as 1-R-VI; the Coppercoins number is 1934P-1DR-002. Photos by John Bordner.
