Description
The 1929 St. Gaudens Double Eagle, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the St. Gaudens Double Eagles 1907-1933 collection. The Philadelphia Mint struck 1,779,750 double eagles dated 1929. The obverse features Liberty striding forward holding a torch and olive branch, with rays of sunlight behind her, and the reverse displays a flying eagle with the rising sun behind it. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 33.44 grams, 34 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9190.
