Description
A Gold Double Eagle from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1907 St. Gaudens Double Eagle - High Relief Flat Edge belongs to the St. Gaudens Double Eagles 1907-1933 series. The obverse features Liberty striding forward holding a torch and olive branch, with rays of sunlight behind her — widely considered the most beautiful U.S. coin design and the reverse displays a flying eagle with the rising sun behind it. First year includes extremely rare Ultra High Relief (originally "Extremely High Relief") versions requiring multiple strikes, plus Wire Rim and Rolled Rim varieties. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding.
