1926 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001

Description

1926 WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1926 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A strong extra eyelid lies SE of the main eyelid. Obverse: three short gouges SE of the D in GOD; a gouge extending NNW above the B of LIBERTY, at its upper right; two WSW-to-ENE scratches in the field under TRUST, between the T and R; a scratch heading NE off the top of the hair, below the first T of TRUST on its left side; and a NNW-to-SSE scratch crossing the inside of the ear. Reverse: light NW-to-SE scratches between the tops of the N and T in CENT, and several scratches running SSW from the bottom of the C in CENT. Gregory Thurman submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-O-IV; the Coppercoins number is 1926-1DO-001.
