Description

Revised in 2020, VAM-1BF documents an advanced die state of the 1923 Denver Mint Peace Dollar featuring dramatic die deterioration rated I-2 for interest and R-6 for rarity. The obverse carries the II1 die designation with a squiggly die crack running through the diagonal of the N in IN, extending upward to the rim where it widens into a full die break on late die states — a progressive failure that provides collectors with a fascinating die-life narrative. A second crack runs from the rim near the left side of Y in LIBERTY across to the rim near the right side of Y, creating a displaced field break that distorts the coin's surface in the affected area. The reverse is designated B2a.
