Discovered by David Close, this 1923-D Peace Dollar is cataloged as VAM-1BD under the classification 1BD II1 - B2a with a rarity rating of I-2 R-6, meaning an estimated 1 to 12 examples are known. The defining feature is a die break above the R in TRVST, accompanied by a die crack running through the lower neck and extending through the left top of the T in TRVST, with a die chip visible above the R. Cataloging notes indicate that this variety appears to be a duplicate listing of VAM-1AK, a determination that future research may confirm or refute as additional specimens surface.
