1922 Peace Dollar - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-005

Description

1922 WDDR-005 is a doubled die reverse on the 1922 Peace dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. The olive branch and leaves are doubled, as are the talons, the rays through and above ONE, the rays left of the legs, and the ray beside the eagle's upper right wing on its right. On the lower legs, the back feathers are tripled, spreading to both the left and the right. The obverse is the doubled die 1922 WDDO-003, doubled on IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, the designer's initials and LIBERTY's L, with a nearly horizontal scratch under the R in LIBERTY. On the reverse, a small gouge (dot) lies right of the top part of the ray between DOLLAR's O and its first L. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
