Description
Recorded on the most common date in the Peace Dollar series, IDB-100c-1922P-01 documents the first cataloged interior die break from the 1922-P issue. Interior die breaks differ from rim cuds in that the fractured die fragment is located within the interior of the die face rather than at the rim edge, producing a raised, irregular area on the struck coin wherever the separated or depressed fragment contacts the planchet. The "100c" in the catalog number indicates the dollar denomination. Cross-reference: 1922P VAM-2C1. The VAM cross-reference connects this die break to a specific die marriage in the comprehensive VAM catalog for Peace Dollars, providing collectors with a dual-attribution pathway through both the Cuds on Coins and VAMWorld systems. Anthony de Francisci's design placed considerable stress on dies, and interior fractures document the limits of die steel endurance. Cataloged and verified by Cuds on Coins.
