1922 Peace Dollar - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

1922 WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 1922 Peace dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. Strong doubling, spread to the east, appears on ONE and on DO of DOLLAR, on the eagle's talons and the back feathers of its lower legs, and on the olive branch and leaves. The rays left of the legs, the rays through ONE and the rays through DO are doubled as well. The obverse is the doubled die Wexler lists as 1922 WDDO-001, with a clockwise (CW) spread on the date and a crack along the front of the bust's base. Wexler notes no reverse markers. Gary Wagnon submitted the variety. Its VAM number is #6, and it is also listed as THDDR-001. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
