Discovery 2015 Revised September 2024, Consolidated with VAMs 105 and 121 1BE IV 1 • D1a (Scribbling Die Scratches #138) (189) Obverse IV 1 - Slightly tripled right stars and E PLURIBUS towards rim. Slightly doubled UNUM towards rim and BU bottom. Top of Phrygian cap doubled and slightly tripled. ''Die markers'' - Short, erratic gouge on cap just above upper cotton leaf. Small gouge inside top of L in LIBERTY. Diagonal die scratch at top of wheat leaf and cotton leaf gap on later die stages. Reverse D1a - Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle's right leg. ''Die Markers'' - Dot between third and fourth middle feather from top of eagle's right wing still visible after scribbles are gone from die wear. Short vertical polishing line at lower right outside of wreath bow DPIS – In 1921 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments:
