1921-P VAM-1AQ 1AQ IV1 - D1a (Scribbling Die Scratches) (189) Reverse D1a- Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle’s right leg and between eagle's left wing and body. Die marker - Vertical polishing lines patch between eagle's right wing and D in UNITED and horizontal die gouge above bow right ribbon. Date position (DPIS): In 1921 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. Notes: The 21-P VAM-1AQ Discovery Coin is an early die state PL coin that shows a peculiar patch of die polishing lines between the right wing and the D in UNITED. The scribbles on this VAM are difficult to photograph. Check out how these two photos, taken with the light at different angles, seem to show two different coins as some scribbles emerge while others disappear.
