About This Coin
The 1907 Philippine Peso is a United States peso from the Philippines Peso 1903-1945 series. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, holding a hammer, while the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Designed by Melicio Figueroa. Struck in silver, weighing 20 grams, with a reeded edge. The Philippine Peso was the highest denomination circulating coin in the series, struck in 80% silver (later 75%). It was the standard of value in the Philippine monetary system under American sovereignty and during the Commonwealth period. The crown-sized silver peso is the most impressive coin in the Philippine series. Key dates include the 1906-S and 1912-S.
