Description
The 1907 (S) Philippine Peso is a peso produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Philippines Peso 1903-1945 series. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, holding a hammer and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Auction record: $31,200 MS67 01-16-2022 Heritage Auctions. Struck in silver, weighing 20 grams, 38 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #90393.
