The 1906 Philippine Peso is a United States peso from the Philippines Peso 1903-1945 series — 4th of 11 years in the series. In 1906, coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint with a combined mintage of 201,000. This represents the lowest annual mintage in the entire series, below the series median of 463,000. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, holding a hammer and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.95 grams, 38 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. A notable auction result reached $156K in MS63 grade at Heritage Auctions.
