=1891-S VAM-9 Far Date, Doubled Stars, Doubled Ear, Gouge above L= Discovered by Martin Field, June 1981. 9 III2 8 • C3a (Far Date, Doubled Stars, Doubled Ear, Gouge above L) (191) Obverse III2 8 - Date set further right than normal at left edge of far lateral position, slightly doubled ear at left and right inside and bottom of ear lobe. All stars on left slightly doubled towards rim. Large die gouge above the L in LIBERTY. ''Die Marker'' -- Some diagonal polishing lines in Y of LIBERTY. Reverse C3a - Later die stage with crack from F in OF across the upper part of the eagle's left wing. Different die from VAM 18. DPIS - RE3/LH5 ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: 9, 18 :Reverse: Comments: # This is very close to being a far date but it is actually still within normal parameters (WNP).
