Description

1887-S VAM-15 Damaged Denticle Obverse Discovered by Michael Fey, May 2006. 15 III2 10 · C3a (Damaged Denticle Obverse) (187) Obverse III2 10– Damaged denticles below 87 with depressions in field in front of denticle spaces and raised bar in denticle spaces. DPIS –________. Emission Sequence Obverse:1887-S VAM-15, 1887-S VAM-22 Reverse:1887-S VAM-2A, 1887-S VAM-2, 1887-S VAM-15 Comments: The exact same reverse die used to produce 1887-S VAM-15 was also used to produce the 1887-S VAM-22. This obverse shared with 1887-S VAM-2A and VAM-15. EDS (VAM-2A) examples show the denticle deformation quite well, LDS (VAM-2) examples do not - the deformation is mushed down considerably (as seen on the VAM-15).
